Join us for UNSHAME KY's May webinar, How Harm Reduction Helps, a presentation on the proven evidence and personal experiences of harm reduction efforts in Kentucky. Harm reduction is a set of ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with substance misuse for individuals, their families, and communities by meeting people where they are.
Jennifer Twyman of Louisville Metro’s Harm Reduction Outreach Services will provide an overview of harm reduction services. Participants will gain an understanding that harm reduction ranges from tending to basic human needs like access to shelter and food, to positive health decisions and services including disease prevention, syringe exchange, safer use practices, insurance, medical care, substance use treatment and behavioral health services.
In this month's webinar, we will:
Present current harm reduction efforts in Kentucky
Identify the limitations of current programs to deliver services and support
Highlight examples of successful harm reduction programs and initiatives
