Amy's Story of Community, Connection, and Access to Care

Updated: Oct 25

Amy says medications for opioid use disorder "100% saved my life."

Back in 2014, recovery resources in Boyle County were hard to come by. Still, Amy was able to access residential treatment and medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD). “100% saved my life,” she says. MOUD is an effective treatment that helps people maintain recovery, and it was part of Amy’s care plan. That also included several other supports. “The medication absolutely helped me build a solid foundation to explore other recovery resources, such as mutual aid meetings, cognitive behavioral therapy—it’s still a big part of my story.”
