Gene is passionate about public policy, especially policies that impact people with substance use disorder (SUD). He and his father both have lived experience with SUD, and he knows firsthand how poverty and other challenges impact his Appalachian community.
Now, through his recovery, Gene has built a life he’s proud of, and he's committed to changing how people with SUD are perceived and treated so they can live successful, joy-filled lives—just like he does today. He’s dedicated to keeping his Appalachian community supported and resourced. In doing this, Gene feels like he’s found his true purpose. 🥰
