When we tell our stories, more people learn about substance use disorder (SUD).
Early in Jessica’s recovery from substance use disorder (SUD), it was hard for her to get connected to resources. These days, she’s been committed to increasing access for others. Jessica feels emotional when she hears about the successes of the people she’s helped in their recovery journeys. “It’s just made my little heart warm when those that I’ve helped message me when they graduate or they own their own house.”
She wants to make sure that everyone knows about those accomplishments. “I try to tell my story as much as I can, just for that purpose, because I didn’t hear anyone’s story when I was in addiction.” When we tell our stories, more people can get the support they need to recover.
