Ridge really cares about helping people in his community.
He knows how important that they were to his recovery—and he knew he wanted to show that same care to others. He thinks back to his time receiving treatment for his substance use disorder: “My peer support at the center I was at were amazing They were just really good people and cared about people. I wanted to be like that.” He also knows that recovery is a journey, and for some people—like him—a substance-free life can take multiple tries. “I still knew what they had in their hearts, and that’s what matters. I feel like if I can give that back to other people, eventually I’ll be a spot in their head somewhere.”
We’re following Ridge’s example, and we’re bringing compassion into our communities by joining #TogetherToEndStigma.
