Sergeant Monty Leads with Compassion

Updated: Oct 25, 2024

Sergeant Monty knows community support can make all the difference.

Meet Sergeant Monty! He's worked in law enforcement at the Winchester Police Department for 16 years. During that time, he's learned it's important to treat community members dealing with substance use disorders (SUD) with compassion and support, rather than sending them straight to jail.

Sergeant Monty has been instrumental in LEAP (Law Enforcement Assisted Programming), which helps Kentuckians gain access to treatment with an opportunity to have their charges dropped—and he has seen great success so far. "The individuals we’re taking through are following through with their programs," Sergeant Monty says. Genuine, specialized support can make all the difference.
