Shannon and her kids love trying new things. Traveling together, trying new foods—her family life reflects a promise she made to herself.
Shannon's family and friends are the biggest thing that sustains her today. "We are social beings, and as humans we're meant to be around people," she says. "We're meant to need connection." Those relationships have been key to her long-term recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) and the self-love she feels today. As a person in long-term recovery from SUD, she's dedicated to being the best version of herself.
