Join us for UNSHAME KY's June webinar, Improving OUD Treatment for LGBTQ+ Communities, a presentation on the societal, familial, internal, and clinical influences on members of the LGBTQ+ community experiencing opioid use disorder (OUD). Members of the LGBTQ+ community experience substance use disorder at a higher rate than non-LGBTQ+ individuals. To reach this marginalized group, advocates and care providers must make more inclusive, culturally sensitive treatment options and community spaces available to the public that make individuals feel safe and secure.
Dr. Brian Hurley, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, will provide an overview of sexual and gender diversity terminology and provide specific strategies to advance recovery opportunities for LGBTQ+ individuals. Recovery Café Lexington's aaron guldenschuh-gatten will also list strategies to create a welcoming community for minority populations on their recovery journey and their allies.
